Why cannot production year be used for grading wine as the only factor?
The quality of wines does not only lie in production years, but also in
raw materials (variety, climate, geological conditions, etc.), brewing
techniques, technological level and so on. Changyu wines are classified as
selected grade, treasured grade, special grade and premium grade after full
consideration of comprehensive factors influencing wine quality, for only by
such a way superior and inferior wine can be scientifically and objectively
assessed. A bottle of fine wine should be able to survive from the test of six items, namely, grape variety,
ecological conditions (climate and soil), brewing techniques, oak-barrel aging,
blending and bottle storage and then the most reasonable assessment can be
obtained. Production year is only one factor influencing the quality of wines.
